Ellis Cleat takes the fight to copper thieves
E
llis (stand D72), the world’s leading cable cleat manufacturer, will be launching a tamper proof cleat at Railtex 2013, which it says will go a long
way to eradicating copper cable theft on Britain’s railway network. This well documented problem is estimated to cost the UK economy £770million pounds per annum, and according to Richard Shaw, managing director of Ellis: “Thieves are currently able to disconnect and remove long lengths of copper cable quickly and far too easily.” “By installing our tamper proof cleats at regular intervals along the cable their task will be made significantly harder, meaning they will no longer have sufficient time to remove the cables before they are apprehended.”In addition to the new tamper proof cleat, Ellis will also introduce Pegasus – a range of lightweight composite cable hangers, which have been designed specifically for use in rail tunnels at Railtex. They will also showcase a wide selection of existing solutions, many of which are LUL approved. Based in Yorkshire, all Ellis products are designed and manufactured in the UK.

New products include the Han® HC Individual: a new industrial connector family providing flexible contact arrangement options, allowing individually sealed 350 A contacts (to protection class IP 66) to be arranged in configurations with up to ten adjacent connections on one supporting rail. This interface can be very easily separated thanks to a stainless steel lever system with integrated contact guide.
