Latest Amphenol’s Single-pin Connector Series

Offers Higher Amperage and Lower T-rise Used by oilfield equipment manufacturers, power generation OEMs and more

Amphenol Industrial Global Operations, a global leader in interconnect systems, has introduced Rig-Lok , a series of single- pin, high amperage connectors that features its patented RADSOK technology. It has a higher amperage rating and lower T-rise and insertion/removal forces as compared to any rugged connector on the market.

Rig-Lok is ideal for use by oilfield equipment manufacturers, power generation OEMs, power distribution panel suppliers and traction motor OEMs. Unlike similar products with threaded connections, the new product is ideal for use in VFD drive buildings, land drilling, traction motors and top drive power distribution because of its secure mating mechanism.

The connector features a unique 1/4 turn reverse bayonet locking coupling that allows for audible, tactile and visual confirmation of secure mating. Its double-dead front, finger-proof inserts help to protect the pin, as well as the socket, and enables the user to offer standard and reverse service within the same connector package.

Available with a variety of alternate keyway options, Rig-Lok prevents the inter-mating of different circuits with the panels on which they are used. The connector series is offered in two shell sizes, giving the user the ability to terminate wire sizes ranging from 4/0 AWG to 777 MCM cable, and has an amperage rating up to 1,135 A at 2,500 VDC.

Rig-Lok features rugged corrosion resistant plating with a hard coat anodized finish that is able to withstand 300 days of continuous salt spray. The ruggedised, over-molded coupling nut supplied with each connector gives users more grip when operating in harsh environments, like oilfields where temperatures go down to -40ºC. A machined aluminum cover comes standard with the RoHS-compliant connector series, providing more protection for insert and contact assembly.

Brandauer sets its sights on Subcon after HSBC

It marks the culmination of a successful twelve months that has seen it celebrate 150 years in business and increase sales in the US, China and South Africa.

The company, which supplies automotive, building products, electronics, medical and renewables, has also invested nearly £1m into state-of-the-art facilities, including a new laser marking capability and two high-speed Bruderer presses.

Rowan Crozier, Sales and Marketing Director, commented:

“We are always looking at ways we can add value for

our customers by speeding up processes, solving engineering problems or reducing cost by taking out some of the material content.

“The Bruderer BSTA 280-752B2 and BSTA 510-125B2 will help us produce a staggering 2 billion parts every year and could lead to £2.5m in sales.”

The company will be on D6 at Subcon 2013.

Hamamatsu Photonics 2D InGaAs Image Sensor

Hamamatsu Photonics introduces the G11097- 0707S, a brand new 128 x 128 pixel two dimensional InGaAs image sensor, that compliments the existing range of high performance linear and area image sensors.

The G11097-0707S consists of a CMOS readout integrated circuit (ROIC) and a back illuminated InGaAs photodiode array, which are connected via indium bumps on a hybrid structure. The G11097- 0707S features simultaneous charge integration and a 5MHz video data rate. Also included within the ROIC is a timing generator to allow simplified operation.

Featuring large 50µm by 50µm pixels, the G11097-0707S offers high sensitivity in the 0.95 µm to 1.7µm infrared region, with excellent linearity characteristics. Housed in a 28-pin metal package with a one stage thermoelectric cooler, the G111097-0707S features a low dark current and high signal- to-noise ratio, allowing the sensor to be used in more demanding imaging applications.

The G11097-0707S is the ideal, low cost solution to a wide range of industrial applications, including low resolution thermal imaging, laser beam profiling, NIR image detection, foreign object detection and many more.

Latest high-precision load cells feature IP69K degree of protection

HBM has launched a high-precision version of its HLCB2 load cells for the construction of scales with a C6 accuracy class conforming to OIML regulations.

The load cells are available with maximum capacities ranging from 220 kg to 4.4 tonnes and are characterized by hermetic encapsulation in addition to their very high precision. They are available with either IP68 or IP69K degree of protection facilitating their use in applications operating in dusty or damp ambient conditions.

The design has been optimised so that any force applied is implemented consistently so that measurement errors are avoided. In addition different loading feet can be fitted to ensure optimal placement in an application.

Typical applications for the HLCB2 load cells are in the food or pharmaceutical sectors, for instance in silo or container scales. These areas require both very high accuracy and, for hygienic reasons, the ability to withstand daily cleaning with high-pressure steam cleaners.
