1. ARRIVE LIMA Tour begins: Miraflores Park Hotel. A transfer is included from Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport to the Miraflores Park Hotel, set in a fashionable neighborhood overlooking the Pacific Ocean and known for exceptional service.


2. GOLD & ELEGANCE IN LIMA Sightseeing begins today at Lima’s Museo Larco where you’ll find an exemplary collection of pre-Columbian works of gold and silver, then head outside the city to the Hacienda Mamacona for a luncheon graced by a show of exceptional Paso horsemanship. Later, you’ll visit the Church of San Pedro; gold-leafed altars and elaborate artwork make it clear that this was historically a church for the city’s elite. Join us afterward for a welcome reception and dinner at an elegant Limeñan home dating back to the city’s Colonial period. Meals BLD


3. ENTER A SACRED VALLEY Rise early for your morning flight to Cusco, then board a coach for the drive to the Urubamba (Sacred) Valley. After lunch, you’ll visit the Incan fortress of Ollantaytambo, featuring fine stonework and a fortified hilltop terrace. This evening an Andean folkloric performance precedes dinner at your leisure. 4. OLLANTAYTAMBO & MACHU PICCHU* On a walk through Ollantaytambo, you’ll explore the town’s traditional canchas, streets entered through stone doorways that lead to homes around a courtyard. Next board your train to Aguas Calientes for a bus ride to your Machu Picchu lodge. Spend the afternoon exploring the citadel with a local guide, 7,000 feet up. Known as the “Lost City,” its form, function and mountain slopes mean a stunning experience. Meals BLD


5. A DAILY MARKET & AN ANCIENT TEMPLE Don’t miss another look at Machu Picchu before it’s time to depart for Aguas Calientes, where you’ll visit the central market and then board your train to Ollantaytambo. After arrival, you’ll visit Incan Korikancha (“courtyard of gold”) – once a sumptuous temple – en route to your lovely Cusco hotel. Meals BD


6. SACRED VALLEY & COLONIAL CUSCO Head out into the Sacred Valley to visit Sacsayhuamán, an ancient stone fortress, and then Awanacancha, a farm where you’ll find llamas, alpacas and local weavers. Back in Cusco, whitewashed buildings, red roof tiles and colonial mansions reveal a rich Spanish heritage to be discovered today along with a visit to splendid Cusco Cathedral. 7. FLY TO GUAYAQUIL, GALÁPAGOS GATEWAY Fly to Lima and then on to Guayaquil, located on Ecuador’s Pacific coast. You’ll arrive at your hotel midafternoon, where dinner is à la carte at your leisure. Tomorrow, it’s off to the Galápagos Islands to begin your cruising adventure! Meals BD


8.  CRUISING BEGINS A flight to the island of San Cristóbal brings you to Isabela II, where boarding lets your cruise* begin. You’ll first hear about the daily excursions ahead – including wet landings that may require wading ashore in shallow water. Then a panga ride (on a Zodiac-style raft) brings you to Puerto Baquierzo Moreno for bus transport to Cerro Colorado. Here you’ll hear about efforts to protect
