7. HISTORY, CULTURE & BEAUTY IN KOTOR Incredible scenery surrounds you as Le Soléal sails into the fjord-like Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. Disembark ship for a scenic drive along a mountain road to a picturesque island village, where incredible views – and a wine and cheese tasting – await. Next, join us for a guided walking tour in Kotor, an ancient maritime center and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Stay in Kotor for lunch on your own or return to the ship for your midday meal; as a special treat, enjoy an onboard performance by a local female a cappella group this afternoon. 8. HVAR – LAVENDER, OLIVES, BEACHES The glamorous island of Hvar welcomes you with lush vineyards, aromatic fields of lavender, and cultural treasures that promise to leave you enriched and inspired. With a guide, explore Hvar Town, including a visit to Saint Stephen’s Cathedral, and explore Stari Grad, first colonized by Ionian Greeks from Paros in the 4th century BC, on a walking tour. Today’s sightseeing also visits Spanjol Fortress, steeped in medieval charm, and inviting with spectacular coastal views. THE ISTRIA PENINSULA: PULA AND ROVINJ Discoveries along the lovely Istrian Peninsula, bordering Italy on Croatia’s northern Adriatic coast, begin when you dock in Pula for a walking tour; visit its 1st-century amphitheatre, considered the best-preserved in the world. Sail to the fairy-tale village of Rovinj this afternoon, where a guided walking tour reveals its storied sights.
