INTRODUCING OUR NEW SHIP, LE SOLÉAL...
Tauck traveled to Rome in late 2012 for the coin ceremony christening and launch of the newest small ship to join Tauck’s fleet where Kiki Tauck Mahar officiated as Godmother of Le Soléal. Christening a new ship is always a cause for celebration for it not only pays homage to maritime traditions centuries old, it also heralds an exciting new age of exploration for future voyages! Joining us for this exciting event were the nearly 500 men in hardhats who worked together to build this beautiful new vessel, along with Jean-Emmanuel Sauvée, CEO of Compagnie du Ponant. He spoke about our shared vision for the ship and the itineraries she will sail and Kiki regaled the crowds with her thoughts on the spirit of travel and Tauck’s partnership with Compagnie du Ponant. In her role as Godmother, Kiki blessed Le Soléal and christened her with a bottle of champagne, a festive custom believed to bestow good luck and safe passage to the newly launched ship. As an additional measure of honor and tradition, a special memorial coin was placed atop deck 7 and inscribed with “marks” that strengthened our partnership and pride in Le Soléal. Be sure to take a look when you come aboard for a bon voyage!
Tauck CEO Dan Mahar and ship “Godmother” Kiki Tauck Mahar raised a champagne toast to Le Soléal, the newest ship to join Tauck’s fleet, at a traditional christening and coin ceremony that blessed her future voyages with safe passage and smooth sailing!
