Getting personal with college fitness H
eralded as the flagship site for leading fitness supplier Precor’s Preva networked fitness, Wellington College in Berkshire is hot on sport. The college’s 80-station gym installed Precor’s powerful new software early in 2012, following a refurbishment with all new equipment and three of Precor’s award-winning AMTs.
Available on Precor’s innovative P80 touch- screen consoles, Preva Personal Accounts software enables exercisers to set personal workout goals each week, choose targets that are relevant to them – distance, calories or duration – and select an individual long-term
focus, for example losing weight or toning up. Exercisers can measure their progress with the weekly goal summary, which alerts them if they’re on or off target, automatically recalculating remaining workouts so they still reach their goal.
Miles Rimell, Marketing Director EMEA & APAC for Precor comments: “When the Preva Personal Accounts software went live, we provided an instructor to interact with the staff and encouraged member use, which really helped boost staff confidence. A year down the line and the results of Preva networked fitness are paying dividends.”
“Personal Accounts is truly engaging our members and encouraging them to try different workouts,” said Paula Pocock, Fitness Manager at Wellington Health and Fitness Club at Wellington College, which saw more than 1,000 different workouts performed by 116 individual members in less than one month. “Members are logging on to each piece of kit as they want to see the time going down on their weekly goal. It’s popular with all age groups, has been a talking point between members and given instructors more reason to interact.”
