It is vital that events like this one are held regularly in order to inspire and instruct future beekeepers – there is always more to learn. I really enjoyed the fantastic event and am very grateful for the opportunity as, not only did I learn about beekeeping and other cultures, but I made new friends too’. Serena said, ‘I see this event as a really positive experience for young beekeepers. The local Associations and their members are to be praised for their mentoring and nurturing, which would be welcomed from all across the country in order that this young generation might continue and grow with beekeeping as an important

The British Beekeepers’ Association has been generous in its support of this event, covering travelling expenses to and from Münster, making it completely free to the team members. It will soon be looking for young English beekeepers, aged under 16


on 1 January 2014 with their Basic Assessment Certificate, to join the team selection process for next year’s event in Poland. ¤


The competition results are now published and the English team came 4th – a great result!
