Brig. Gen. Michael Calhoun, ARNG (Premium Member since 2006): In September 2011, Calhoun was promoted to brigadier general — becoming the first African-American promoted to the rank of general officer in the Florida National Guard. Calhoun enlisted in the Guard in August 1977 and received a direct appointment into the Medical Service Corps in July 1989. He commanded the 856th Quartermaster Battalion (Water), the 53rd Infantry Brigade’s Special Troops Battalion, the 211th Regiment Regional Training Institute, and the 50th Area Support Group.
Maj. Gen. Matthew P. Caulfield, USMC (Ret) (Life Member since 1989): Caulfield was the first Marine to serve as a military fellow on the Council of Foreign Relations. He commanded the 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade and served as director of Marine Corps Training and Education Command and of the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Center. He currently chairs the Government Relations Committee of MOAA’s board of directors and serves on MOAA’s Finance and Audit Committee.
Lt. Gen. John F. Regni, USAF (Ret) (Premium Member since 2010): Regni, a 1973 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., served as base commander and 8th Combat Support Group commander, Kunsan air base, South Korea; commander, Second Air Force; and commander, Air University, Maxwell AFB, Ala. In January, Regni joined the board of advisors for Vantage Mobility International, where he will support a job-creation program for disabled veterans.
Patricia Shecter (Auxiliary Premium Member since 2000): Shecter was a loan officer before she followed her interest in water sports. Settling in Tucson, Ariz., she worked with the Society of Military Widows, serving in leadership positions for 10 years locally and nine years nationally. Shecter is the local treasurer of Gold Star Wives, webmaster for the Society of Military Widows, and secretary of MOAA’s Tucson Chapter. She is a former member of MOAA’s Auxiliary Member Advisory Committee.
