“When Jerry took over in 2005 was the turning point for USA Basketball. What he has established over these seven years has been terrific in
building a great culture. I feel honored to be part of it – to be on the same team as him. It has produced two Olympic golds and a World Championship.”

consecutive Olympic gold medal showing and an average margin of victory of 32.1 points a game, were just some of the impressive numbers the men compiled in London. Where some teams win because of
defense, the 2012 U.S. team was an unstoppable offensive machine. The U.S. averaged 115.5 points a
game in its eight outings. The USA’s point production was up 9.3 points per game from 2008, and it was the second most points averaged ever by a U.S. Olympic men’s team. Only the famed 1992 Dream Team averaged more, out producing the 2012 team by a slim 1.8 points a game (117.3 ppg. to 115.5 ppg.). Drawing from the USA Basketball
National Team program, the USA’s 12-man roster overflowed with basket- ball talents. The golden 2012 U.S. team featured five members of the golden 2008 U.S. Olympic Team - Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks), Kobe

Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers), LeBron James (Miami Heat), Chris Paul (Los Angeles Clippers) and Deron Williams (Brooklyn Nets); five members of the golden 2010 USA World Championship Team - Tyson Chandler (New York Knicks), Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder), Andre Iguodala (Denver Nuggets), Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves) and Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder); and two USA National Team newcomers – Anthony Davis (New Orleans Hornets) and James Harden (Oklahoma City Thunder). The team was again under the expert
handling of USA Basketball National Team Managing Director Jerry Colangelo, Hall of Fame head coach Mike Krzyzewski, and assistant coaches Jim Boeheim, Mike D’Antoni and Nate McMillan. Further proof of the potency of this team - the USA ranked first in every
Olympic offensive team statistical category but free throw percentage. Five U.S. team members finished
with double figure scoring averages, and nine of the 12 players on the roster aver- aged 5.5 points a game or more. Durant paced the highly potent USA
offense averaging 19.5 points a game, while Anthony contributed 16.3 ppg., James added 13.3 ppg., Bryant dropped 12.1 ppg. and Love tossed in 11.6 ppg. Durant’s 156 points were a U.S.
record and the most by any player in the 2012 Games. His 19.5 point scoring average ranked second best for the Olympics and also was an U.S. Olympic record.
Love, who ranked second in total
rebounds in the Olympics, headed the U.S. rebounding effort that saw the USA feature five players average between 4.0 and Love’s team best 7.6 rebounds a game.
