HIGH COSTS AT THE SWAN
Despite the high maintenance costs associated with a very old building, the Swan Shopping Centre in Leatherhead has retained its Park Mark award.
The six-storey car park is well-managed, with regular patrols, electronic surveillance and good lighting.
VETERAN PUTS IN VINTAGE PERFORMANCE
Clacton Factory Outlet at Clacton-on-Sea is a veteran of 12 years when it comes to the Safer Parking Scheme. The facility has once again been successful in retaining the Safer Parking Park Mark status, following its annual inspection.
Over the past year there have been no crime-related incidents and any issues have been kept to an absolute minimum by the high standard of management practices, including regular patrols by G4S security offi cers. The facility is also covered by electronic surveillance. Mike Bibby, the Safer Parking Scheme area
manager, said: ‘I am extremely pleased with the standards constantly being maintained at this facility and I would like to congratulate all personnel involved for their efforts. Visitors to the outlet can be assured their safety and that of their vehicles is being well-catered for. It is a facility that is well worthy of the award. Allan Hassell, centre manager for Clacton
Factory Outlet, said: ‘We are proud to have been consistently awarded a Park Mark Award each year and we proudly display the awards at our entrances. It’s a marvellous scheme and gives customers added reassurance when leaving their cars to go shopping with us’.
The total number of vehicles through the car park last year was around 305,000, yet only two vehicle-related offences were recorded. Pat Lawless, manager of the Swan Centre, said: ‘I am delighted that once again we have achieved this prestigious award in recognition of the measures we have put in place in our multi-storey car park to create a safer parking environment for our shoppers. ‘The Swan Centre management team has worked hard to meet the high standards of security, lighting, signage, cleanliness and maintenance to achieve this award, and works closely with the local police to deter criminal activity.
