Winners of the Jug Bonspiel in Rice Lake were (l-r) Jean McCann, Amy Anderson, Michelle Perry, and Nancee Melby. Aſter Rice Lake Curling Club member Janet Schleppegrell was diagnosed with breast cancer, she told her Tursday Women’s League friends that they should organize a breast cancer bonspiel of some sort. What ensued has impacted hundred of lives and touched thousands of hearts. Te first event raised $13,000 and has grown each year. Schleppegrell lost her battle with breast cancer on Jan. 1, 2005, but her legacy continues on. 2012 marked the 11th successful Curl for a Cure in Rice Lake, and the community continues to strongly support the event and Pink Ribbon Advocacy. To read more about this annual event, check out the bonus pages of the digitial edition of the Curling News.
