Welcome from PAMA
PAMA President, Dale Forton, said “Ever since PAMA was asked NOT to hold their annual symposium as a part of the industry trade show (AS3) we helped found with NATA, PAMA has wanted a national event back. Aviation Maintenance Magazine (AVM) has offered us a tremendous opportunity to jump back in with a bang!”
Last year Aviation Maintenance Magazine hosted its first event with the support of MARPA covering the opportunities that PMA has to offer outside the US. Under the NEW umbrella AVM Summit - this year it introduced a second track covering MRO Technology.
AVM SUMMIT USA - 21-22nd November 2013 (TWO TRACKS). We have teamed up with PAMA (Professional Aviation Maintenance Association) to re-launch their Annual Symposium which will ALSO be held alongside the broader MRO track, guaranteeing an extra audience.
“AVM has always been a dedicated and loyal PAMA supporter. In recent years both PAMA and AVM have listened to the industry who have wanted a strong event for solely the aviation maintenance professional. This event is designed to answer those requests. Our Annual National Symposium is coming back!”

What happens when benevolent regulators act on wrong information? Is there a danger that safety can be undermined? We all agree that safety is important but who makes sure that the government has all of the information they need to make informed safety decisions?
MARPA, the Modification And Replacement Parts Association, is the trade association that represents companies who manufacture aircraft parts under FAA-PMA approval. One of the Association’s most important tasks is to work with government regulators: providing them with information to help them make informed decisions.
Last year, when the FAA tried to promulgate an engine vibration rule that could have ended engine PMAs, MARPA sued to level the playing field, and won an important victory for small businesses and for safety.
Most of MARPA’s activities do not require law suits – in fact MARPA normal method of operating is to work cooperatively with government agencies. MARPA gathers information from its members and makes sure that the government understands the effect of proposed rules on PMA manufacturers and PMA users.
In the first quarter of 2013, for example, MARPA will work with the FAA on • Proposed changes to FAA design standards • FAA air carrier contract maintenance standards • FAA standards for designees who work outside the United States
• Safety Management Systems
More Airline Participation We are continually working on new initiatives to encourage greater participation from airlines and operators and pleased to announce this year a special package for attendance to the conference for relevant employees of airlines and operators. We are aware of the pressures, both financial and time, for the airline industry and for these important and key decision makers to attend, so we are making it easier and more affordable to attend the AVM Summits.
Further details will be announced soon. You can also find out more by visiting
