Creative Cooling

As part of a rolling programme of refurbishment for its UK stores, Dixons Retail is always looking for the highest energy efficient climate control systems to replace models that are no longer running efficiently. The company’s CurrysPCWorld shop at Richmond-Upon- Thames has recently completed a refurbishment that included the removal of outdated equipment running on the now banned R22 refrigerant.

Sky Air Seasonal Smart condensers from Daikin UK were selected for the store. Daikin state that this system can offer at least 20% better performance than previous inverter solutions. Seasonal Smart has also been designed to exceed the European Energy Related Products Directive legislation coming into force in January 2013, which sets minimum

efficiency standards for air conditioning systems. Energy Manager for Dixons Retail, Colin Braidwood, was delighted with the installation and is looking forward to seeing the results of the system over the next year; “We are very pleased with the energy efficiency we are experiencing at Richmond, and at our stores at Camden Town and Victoria Station, which have also used Daikin products in their refurbishments in 2012. Ideally, I would like to judge a system over a full 12-month period, but the difference in energy efficiency that we are experiencing at this store so far is looking really good. Seasonal Smart was an ideal solution because of its versatile and efficient running.

Excellent performance and minimised operating costs were a key concern, and Daikin’s Sky Air Seasonal Smart offers a high level of seasonal efficiency. As well as this, the system is discrete, allowing for the creation of an inviting atmosphere for customer.
