he GSMA has elected new members of the GSMA


Board for the two-year period from January 2013 through to December 2014. It has also re-elected Franco Bernabè, chairman and chief execu- tive offi cer of Telecom Italia Group, as its chairman, and Jon Fredrik Baksaas, president and chief executive offi cer of Telenor Group, as its deputy chairman, for a second term in these roles. Mr Bernabè has served as GSMA chairman since January 2011, overseeing the strategic direction of the organization, which represents nearly 800 of the world’s mobile operators, as well as more than 230 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem. Mr Bernabè said: “We are at an important time in the development of the mobile industry – following years of unprecedented growth, we are now faced with new challenges, as well as further growth potential, as we see nearly everyone and everything in our lives becoming connected by mobile.”


asingstoke-based Link Microtek, the specialist manufacturer and supplier of RF and microwave subsystems and components, has expanded its production team with the appointment of Robert Kelly


as toolmaker/machinist. Working within the company’s engineering division, he will be responsible


for producing a wide variety of waveguide and coaxial microwave components, applying both his CNC programming knowledge and his traditional precision-engineering skills. Since starting his apprenticeship at Pro-Tech Precision in Ash Vale, Mr


Kelly has gained over 20 years’ experience as a toolmaker, including spells at Linde Material Handling in Basingstoke and Gang-Nail Systems in Aldershot.

he Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has announced the ap- pointment of new offi cers to the Bluetooth SIG board of directors.


Board members Svein-Egil Nielsen (pictured), James Rutledge, and Toby Nixon have been appointed as chairman, vice-chairman, and secretary respectively, for a one-year term. “Our board of directors and associate members are volunteers who dedicate their time, thought leadership, and expertise to ensure Bluetooth technology remains the de facto global wireless standard. We appreciate their guidance and are pleased to work even closer with Svein-Egil, James, and Toby in their new roles”, said Mark Powell, executive director of the Bluetooth SIG.

ean-Bernard Lévy has been elected to the position of


chairman and chief executive offi cer of Thales. Thales’s two main shareholders, the French State and Dassault Aviation, welcomed the appointment and will work in agreement with se- nior management to pursue the continued recovery of the group and its future development. Mr Lévy said: “I am very


proud to be appointed to lead Thales. I have been aware for many years of the passion and the high-level expertise of the men and women who contrib- ute to the Group’s numerous successes in many countries around the world. imoco has appointed Sameer Chaddha to its group marketing team based in Derby. He joins with many years’ experience in the fi eld of commercial and pricing analysis, gained with global companies such as Enterprise Car Rental and British Midland International Airways (BMI).
