The Hall of Fame Bald, fat and forty

Recruiter Peter Gwilliam is aiming to lose 30 lbs before the end of March and raise a bit of much needed cash for his local football club, Alvechurch Lions FC. “T ere is only one aspect

of being bald, fat and forty that I can work on and it is

long overdue that I tried this thing called self-re- straint, and who knows, maybe even see what this exercise thing is all about,” Gwilliam told theHoF. Alvechurch Lions FC were formed 10 years

ago and are an FA Charter Standard Development Club. T ey have 11 junior teams but still don’t have their own home, playing on rented pitches across the area. Gwilliam and pals are working to raise £50,000 to buy and develop some farm land to allow members and volunteers to have a home ground . “I am aiming to lose 30 lbs before the end of

March and hope that you’ll off er 50p or £1 per pound lost in those three months.” You can pledge your support to Peter by email: pete@virtussearch.co.uk

Run Prosser, run, run, run

Mortgage Business Expo show director James Prosser is kicking off the New Year with a vow to run the 2013 Virgin London Marathon on behalf of WellChild. “A year ago I smoked my last cigarette so to cel-

ebrate I’m going to run the Marathon,” an excited Prosser told the HoF . “I attended the WellChild awards in 2012 and was truly inspired by the work that the charity does, so much so that I wanted to do something challenging for and on behalf of this worthwhile cause (aſt er a glass of wine too many!).” You can help Prosser along the way

(and potentially receive a huge ex- hibitor discount at the Manchester

MBE later this year) by donating to this worth- while cause at: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ JamesProsser

Basso’s looking Lowry

Richard Basso, director of Manchester- based bridging lender Lowry Capital, waltzes his way on to the red carpet this month.

Basso’s renowned for his mad support of Manchester’s second biggest football team but the HoF can reveal that the United fan has more than one dirty secret. In his list of New Year resolutions Basso vowed that Lowry would give away more iPads, iPhones, laptops, holidays, and TVs to its brokers as part of their Loyalty Programme. Second on his wish list was that the firm would pay more commission than ever before. Next was to keep on improving its award-winning service whilst also increasing funding for more heavy refurbishments. And, taking advantage of recent departures

from the bridging market, Basso also vowed to become the bridging lender of choice for Scotland, Wales and other remote parts of the UK.

But it seems Basso won’t be sticking to his final

resolution – to “stop wearing my wife’s clothes when she’s out”. It’s been a long time coming but the HoF always knew the truth would come out in the end. Basso, the HoF salutes your brutal and somewhat brave honesty.
