Stakes Results CRM Livewire logs second straight victory in the Talimena Handicap


Hot off a victory in the Masterpiece Challenge, CRM Livewire continued his winning ways in the Talimena Handicap at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Oklahoma. Running the 350-yard race in :17.622 for a speed index of 95, CRM Livewire took home the lion’s share of the race’s $25,000 purse, adding $14,730 to his lifetime earnings of $90,190. Bred and owned by Dan Jones of Kemp, Texas, the 3-year-old bay tobiano stallion—who is by Cartel Success (QH) and out of Elaina Go Go—was trained by Matt Whitekiller and ridden by Cody Smith.


Runaway Argus, a 2009 sorrel solid gelding by Royal Quick Flash and out of Giddy Up, took home second-place honors. Crossing the wire in :17.64, the gelding earned a speed index of 95 and $5,490 for the Runaway Argus Partnership of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The gelding’s lifetime earnings now stand at $112,152. Bred by James Skimbo of Wilburton, Oklahoma, Runaway Argus was trained by Brian Muse and ridden by G.R. Carter Jr.


Finishing third was Flashthechicks, posting a time of :17.76 and a speed index of 91. Bred and owned by Shirley Wheeler of Boynton, Oklahoma, the 2009 sorrel solid gelding earned $3,021—his lifetime earnings are now $273,539. By Royal Quick Flash and out of Game Chicken, Flashthechicks was trained by Luis Villafranco and ridden by Alex Baldillez Jr.
