PACIFIC NORTHWEST

The end of one season. The preparation for the next. Anyone who embraces the multisport lifestyle understands this. Triathlon is not as much what we do but who we are. Many of you define the quality of your day by the quality of your workouts. Your offseason is not nearly as much about taking time off but much more about how you are going to get better for the next year. Similarly, your regional council is trying to get better for the next season. As the year comes to an end we have spent considerable time defining what we have done in the past year but more importantly set “SMART” goals for next year. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. Here are a few of the initiatives we are launching next season. For the first time in several years, we have a full slate of Regional Championship races scheduled, including duathlon, aquathlon, winter triathlon, sprint, Olympic and long course. We hope to organize two paratriathlon clinics as well as races. For the first time, we’ve funded leadership and organizers for collegiate triathlon. We hope broader participation from colleges in the region culminates in a regional collegiate championship. We are in the process of significantly changing our website presence. It is our hope that this will allow members to have easier access to information about our region and to better communicate with us. If you would like to give back to triathlon, we urge you to get involved. Send us a note. Volunteer at local events. Encourage your children to do their first race.
