COMPLETE WHEELS, RIMS AND TYRES Rubbers and rims

At this time of year the woods will be hiding roots under a carpet of leaves, while on the road you’ll need all the help you can get to defend against the pot-holed surface. Mark Sutton rounds up the market’s wheel, tyre and tube suppliers and the product they have to offer…

Oxford Products

FOR THE customer on a budget, Oxford Products supplies a number of tyres in traditional sizes, as well as some harder to find measurements. Tyres start at just 12 x 1.75 and cover various widths

Eurobike UK

AMERICAN CLASSIC continues to improve its tubeless offering, giving riders a low rolling resistance, puncture-free alternative to the traditional tube and tyre. The firm’s tubeless wheels, for both road and

MTB, are set up with a base layer of AC fiber tape covering the spoke holes and two layers of AC honey colored tape to seal to the rim. With the installation of tubeless ready clincher tires and a quick pump of liquid sealant into the system through the AC valves the wheel is good to go. The liquid sealant replaces the conventional tube. Bill Shook designed the American Classic rim with a bead barb running along the edge of the bead shelf. When installed, the tyre firmly pops into position over the bead barb. The tyre bead centers and tightly grips the circumference of the rim creating a sealed environment to hold the liquid sealant without burping. 01332 774796

The Cycle Division

THE CYCLE Division has been an importer and distributor of bicycle parts and accessories for over ten years now and during that time the firm has laid claim to building all its own wheels. A team of experienced wheel builders works hard to supply and maintain a vast stock range, allowing the firm to supply

and bagged under the ‘D2O Bicycle Wheel Division’ tag. Skewers or axle nuts (where applicable) are always included at no extra cost. Further to the above The Cycle Division can also supply tailored products to meet customer needs and provide rapid turnaround of any special wheel build. As the main importer of Sturmey Archer in the UK, this service is especially invaluable for anyone requiring any hub building into any rim size. Another area The Cycle Division specialise in is that of free issue work. If you have in stock a large (or small) number of hubs and rims and feel daunted at the prospect of building them into wheels, then the firm is flexible enough to make arrangements that suits the needs of the customer. 0845 0508 500

at 14, 16, 18, 20, 500A, 24, 26, and 28-inch measurements. You’ll also find whitewalls for the customer needing a jazzy 26-inch wheel tyre and gumwalls for those after 27-inch 1,1/4-inch or 700 x 25/28C. A variety of tubes is also stocked to match the tyre requirement. Odd as it seems, bike shops do get asked for

wheelbarrow tyres and when that day comes, Oxford carries the necessary 400 x 8 tyre size. 01993 862 300
