INDUSTRY NEWS Increase for Architecture Billings Index


Billings at architecture fi rms in September increased at their fastest pace since late-2010. As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the Architecture Billings Index (ABI) refl ects the approximate nine- to 12-month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) reported the September ABI score was 51.6, up from the mark of 50.2 in August. This score refl ects an increase in demand for design services (any score above 50 indicates an increase in billings). The new projects inquiry index was 57.3, compared to a mark of 57.2 the previous month.

sionals (CSRPs). RISE’s board of directors has conferred the CSRP designation on the following individuals for meeting established eligibility criteria, passing a challenging examination and agreeing to develop themselves professionally to remain current with changes in the fi eld. for four years as a team leader and account manager, making large volume contract sales of con- struction products and household appliances to commercial customers. He started his career as a sales associate at Sears selling cabinet re-facing services to residential accounts in north Texas.


AAMA publishes quality assurance guidelines for polyamide thermal barriers


The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has published QAG-2-12, “Voluntary Quality Assurance Processing Guide for Polyamide Thermal Barriers.” The document, developed to assist architects, manufacturers, designers and/or owners, establishes assembly guidelines for aluminum composites utilizing poly- amide thermal barriers. Developed by AAMA’s Thermal Barrier


Task Group, QAG-2-12 covers handling and storage of polyamide thermal barriers, assembly equipment and machinery inspection, quality control, and handling and care of completed and assembled profiles. QAG-2-12, “Voluntary Quality Assurance
