Deputy Director, Engineering and Asset Management Salary c.£90,000

The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) is the independent safety and economic regulator for Britain’s railways, working to ensure a safe, efficient and effective service for all its users. Rail has a big role to play in Britain’s economic prosperity and connectivity. It is an exciting and challenging time for the railways with very significant new investment to support economic growth and to link communities.


Working closely with the Director, Railway Performance, the Deputy Director Engineering and Asset Management will play a key role in these changes. The Deputy Director and his/her team will lead ORR’s scrutiny of the capability and efficiency of Network Rail’s asset management in a whole industry context, managing relevant policy development and providing expert support across ORR.


Candidates will bring substantial asset management experience at a senior level in infrastructure or a comparable regulated sector, and some understanding of the commercial and regulatory environment in which the railway operates. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of leadership and influencing within an organisation, delivering complex programmes and communicating effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
