We give PTA Magazine readers the opportunity to share their views on PTA-UK and any PTA related topic. We’ve seen our Facebook community grow in recent months so here’s a selection of comments received by email and our Facebook page – please keep them coming.

Star Letter A lovely surprise...

Wow...what a wonderful 'gift' to receive, a Good Practice Gold Award. I couldn’t wait to share it with the committee so it was perfect because we happened to be having our 'annual idea's' meeting that night - as you can imagine the team was delighted. Something like this really does lift everyone's spirits and reaffirms the wonderful work they are all doing. So thank you for making our day, week, month, year!

Sam Newy, Immediate past Chair, St Wilfrids PA, Cheshire By email.

PTA-UK says – congratulations Sam, you’re our very first Star Letter contributor, so you’ve got a £50 donation heading your PTA's way! Details of the Gold Star Awards 2013 will be published soon.

Speedy registration

Thanks to PTA-UK! Using your model constitution Thornhill Primary PTA in Cardiff had our application to the Charity Commission approved in less than 24 hours! Amazing, thanks for all the great advice!

Lynne Schofiel Thornhill Primary School via Facebook.

PTA-UK says – over 70% of our members are now registered as a charity with the majority using our model document, which is the most widely used governing document in England and Wales.

A PTA for all

I would really like to see an article in the magazine tackling the subject of diversity within PTAs as I think it's an area we need to work on, both in getting people involved and in making sure we are carrying out our PTA roles sensitively where appropriate.

Anna George Tredegarville CW Primary School via Facebook.

PTA-UK says – we agree wholeheartedly Anna and will put some effort into developing this resource for our members, thanks for the suggestion.

A worthy two hours

Fabulous PTA-UK workshop in Fareham, Hampshire (24 October), incredible energy from Caroline Gaskin [PTA-UK Adviser for the South East] and the other participants. Did you have a voice left Caroline? Really useful info and ideas, particularly as a new Chair. As one of only 2 men amongst the 60+ attendees...clearly need more women running the country. .:)

Terry Murphy Swanmore College of Technology via Facebook.

PTA-UK says – we couldn’t agree more and Caroline is still talking!

Can you help?

Get up and go

Have any of you guys got success stories about how you revitalised a Friends/PTA group that was on the point of folding?

Bernette Arrowsmith Dyson Perrins C of E Sports College via Facebook.

PTA-UK says – great idea for a feature and a PTA info sheet Bernette, watch this space.
