From the Field: Greater Granbury (Texas) Chapter MOAA President Vice Adm. Norbert R. Ryan Jr., USN-Ret., presented a charter to members of the Greater Granbury Chapter at an Aug. 21 cer- emony. The new chapter serves of- ficers who live in Granbury, Cresson, Lipan, Tolar, and Glen Rose, Texas. At the charter ceremony, Lt. Col.
Phil Newsom, USAF-Ret., chapter president, gave Ben Macon of the U.S. Veterans Museum in Granbury a $350 donation. The chapter also plans to support a Junior ROTC unit and es- tablish a scholarship fund. The chapter meets at 6 p.m. on
the third Tuesday of every month at the Pecan Plantation Country Club

Montgomery County (Md.) Chapter More than 200 wounded warriors and their families and staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., attended the fifth buffet luncheon hosted by the Mont- gomery County Chapter. Marsh U.S. Consumer, a MOAA partner, partially funded the event, and company rep- resentatives Shelita Spady and Seneca Dobsa staffed the chow line alongside chapter members. Wounded war- riors also received MOAA Maryland baseball caps and CDs and small items such as flashlights and key rings.
During the event, chapter lead-
ers were able to sign up two new members under the Give Me 10! recruiting program.
Middle Tennessee Chapter Members of the Middle Tennessee Chapter donated $500 to support a new Fisher House being built at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Mur- freesboro, Tenn. Currently, 57 Fisher Houses nationwide provide a home away from home for families of pa- tients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. “Every year, the chapter’s finances
are examined, and if we’re able, we pick one veterans-related program to support,” says Capt. Dana McLendon Jr., USN-Ret., chapter president. In previous years, the chapter donated to Honor Flight, Operation Stand Down Nashville Inc., and the Wounded Warrior Project.
