Brig. Gen. Stephen M. Bliss, USA-Ret. (Life Member since 1988): Bliss graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., in 1965. He served in Vietnam and held assignments fo-


cusing on multifunctional logistics operations. His fi nal assignment was as vice commander of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Dallas. In 2002, he became president of the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad, Calif.


Lt. Col. Orlando J. “Orie” Illi Jr., USA-Ret. (Life Member since 1993): Illi retired from active duty in 1997. Despite being 70-percent disabled with service-connected disabilities, he


received a Presidential Champions Gold Award. To achieve this, Illi spent more than 335 hours in the gym since August 2010, often fi ve days a week, beginning at 4:30 a.m., before going to work.


Cmdr. Mark K. Seglem, USN-Ret. (Life Member since 1999): Seglem earned a bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania; earned a master’s degree from


the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif.; and attended the Ken- nedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., on a senior executive fellowship. Seglem served as a surface warfare offi cer and as an administrative aide to the secretary of the Navy and commanded a guided- missile destroyer. Before retiring, he led the Theater Air and Missile Defense branch within the Navy Surface Warfare Directorate.


Maj. James H. Shiffrin, USAF-Ret. (Life Member since 1988): Shiff rin currently serves as president of MOAA’s Fort George G. Meade (Md.) Chapter and as webmaster for the Mary-


land Council of Chapters. He also is the Boy Scout/Girl Scout liaison offi cer for the General George G. Meade Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars. Shiff rin also volunteers at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport USO lounge, with the Honor Flight Network, and with Operation Welcome Home Maryland.
