Frances Gold Lind, 68, passed away July


24, 2012, at Norwalk (Conn.) Hospital. The daughter of Eva and Otto Gold, she was born in Ottawa, Canada, moving to Rowayton, Conn., where she resided for many years. Fran was a gold medalist in figure skating


at age 11 and double gold medalist at age 13. She was a runner-up in the junior Canadian ranks and second in senior Canadian figures. Frances ranked fourth at the senior Canadian Championships at age 13. She was also a member of the North American and World teams and an alternate for the Canadian Olympic Team in 1961.

She was the daughter of hall of fame


skating coach Otto Gold. Otto contributed significantly to the success of Canadian and American skaters on the international level. He taught such champions as Slavka Button, Sonja Henie, Barbara Ann Scott, Donald Jackson and Dorothy Hamill. Fran founded Skate Darien in Darien,


Conn., coaching and teaching children of all ages. Until August 2011, she was coaching figures, moves in the field and freestyle at Stamford Twin Rinks in Stamford, Conn. In addition to her love of skating, Fran


was an accomplished interior decorator. She also enjoyed the beach, antique shopping and spending time with her family.


Her beloved husband of 40 years, Ronald


A. Lind, predeceased Mrs. Lind, as well as her first husband Neil P. Flynn. She is survived by her three children, Peirson Flynn and his wife Jessica of Norwalk, Conn., daughter Kristin Flynn Rogers and husband Mike of Newport, R.I., and Eric Lind of Redding, Conn.; and two grandchildren. Fran was a devoted mother,


grandmother, skating teacher, and friend. In lieu of flowers, please consider
