Hazlegrove tennis stars

HAZLEGROVE PUPILS have had outstanding success at the IAPS National Tennis competition. Congratulations go to twins Sophie and Olivia for winning the U12 Girls’ Doubles and to Olivia for winning the U12 Girls’ Singles. Special mention also goes to Tilly who was runner up in the U12 Girls’ Doubles (playing with a girl from another school), to Sophie, Rosie and Clementine for reaching the semi-fi nals and to William and Tim for making it through to the latter stages of the U14 Boys’ Doubles Cup – still an impressive feat given the keen competition. The investment in Hazlegrove tennis is

clearly paying dividends. The new courts, with diff erent playing surfaces and fl oodlights, have allowed more children to play tennis for more time. Full-time tennis coach Emma-Claire Parkin Bowes has a busy and varied schedule, from teaching the youngest pupils in Pre-Prep as part of the curriculum, to providing one-to-one tuition to those pupils wishing to take their tennis to the next level.

boarding house master, will support pupils with a sponsored beard shave in the autumn term, the fi rst time his beard has been removed for 32 years.
