Ôunder the knifeÕ, and how to ensure all patients receive the optimum after care. At first glance, this can only be a good thing, and I

agree with CynosureÕs Neil Wolfenden (see page 54) that the proposed regulations will help to weed out those who do not take the industry seriously and who are only looking out for themselves, or interested in making a quick buck. And while it is a positive step to ensuring that we

continue to practice safely, and to the highest standards, the PIP brush seems to continually tarnish the industry and portray it in a negative light to laymen. As a journalist, I have felt a similar negative spotlight

on my profession, following the Leveson inquiry into phone hacking and pay-offs among the British media. The few who have been involved in such gross acts of misconduct have certainly tarnished this particular industry and I often feel that I have to justify my career choice to those from other professions or industries. As I have written in this journal previously, it is a shame that such an outstanding profession seems to be continually called into disrepute because of the errors and bad judgement of the few. It is time now for the remaining majority to stand proud and reinvigorate the industry with the positivity we have so recently been lacking, and remind ourselves what ÔprofessionalÕ means: conforming to the standards of a profession; having or showing great skill; expert.

E ARE NOW 9 MONTHS AND SIX ISSUES INTO THE YEAR, AND I seem to have written about the PIP scandal more times than I care to remember, but it has inevitably had a profound impact on the entire aesthetic and anti-ageing industry. How we are regulated, how products are tested, and how physicians Ô performÕ have certainly come into the spotlight. And it is unfortunate that such bad press can tarnish
