The heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons physically convert themselves from common mechanical devices such as cars, trucks and planes into robotic warriors. On Transformers: The Ride, passengers battle to save humanity from destruction when they are tapped as NEST (Nonbiological Extraterrestrial Species Treaty) recruits. Propelled along 2,000ft (610m) of track, riders experience the attraction sat inside 12-person vehicles designed to look like a new Transformer named Evac. Setting off on a breakneck chase from the NEST headquarters, they pass through city streets, across rooftops and even inside an office building on the hunt for a missing shard of the AllSpark. One of the most spectacular effects is when the Autobot leader Optimus Prime kneels down to address riders. “Transformers represents a perfect match for our park,” believes Larry Kurzweil, president of Universal Studios Hollywood, “an exhilarating blockbuster, non- stop action and astonishing special effects.
