Ride Profile www.parkworld-online.com

we will dispatch each train separately. These smaller trains are obviously much lighter in weight, which creates domino like savings in relation to track, structure and maintenance, yet they are still very impressive to watch. This lighter vehicle, coupled with the wheel carrier improvements make for a smoother ride experience, while the smaller trains allow for additional manoeuvrability and selection of elements.

S&S announces Japanese investor

The Japanese ride manufacturer Sansei Yusoki is to invest in S&S Worldwide. As part of the deal, effective July 3, S&S will retain its headquarters and manufacturing facilities in Logan, Utah, and Rich Allen will stay on as president and CEO. "The financial strength of Sansei, coupled with their strong engineering and manufacturing focus, will be a tremendous complement to S&S," notes the company’s Kevin Rohwer. “Sansei is second to none in vendor and quality control management and with a rich history in amusement rides (since 1943) they understand our industry as well as our company and product range. We are very excited about the team!” Based in Osaka, Sansei

Yusoki also manufactures stage equipment, elevators and other specialist equipment in addition to amusement rides. S&S is represented in China by Acor International.

What do you hope this ride will do for your park’s attendance? LH – Last year we attracted over three million guests. Dinoconda has just opened so it’s too early to say how many extra people will come this year, but many were waiting for this ride to open. It is proving very popular, and we have received a good response from younger people.

A ride like this is obviously a massive investment. What variations on the 4D concept can S&S offer to parks on a smaller budget? KR – Although the ride experience is a one-of-a-kind, the “fifth rail” that guides that the forwards and backwards seat movement make it a little expensive. But stay tuned – S&S will introduce a new 4th Dimension product in 2013 that will cost much less money. We’re excited!

What other projects is S&S working on right now in Asia? KR – We’re finishing up two launch coasters for the OCT group – one in Shenzhen and the other in Wuhan. We have also sold an El Loco Coaster to another park in China and are in the process of contracting another air-launch coaster and several more tower rides. There remains considerable interest in the 4th Dimension Coaster.
