Kings Dominion Soaring and roaring in 2012!
Dinosaurs Alive!
WindSeeker, a 301ft (97m) swing ride by Mondial, and Dinosaurs Alive!, a six-acre interactive dinosaur exhibit from Dinosaurs Unearthed, are now thrilling visitors to Kings Dominion, Doswell, Virginia. WindSeeker, one of three tower swings Mondial is supplying to the Cedar Fair chain this season, spins riders high above ground in two-person suspended seat whilst rotating around the central tower. As they
reach the top, the swings reach speeds between 25 and 30mph (40-48kmh), flaring out almost 45° from the tower. WindSeeker can accommodate up to 64 riders (32 swings) at a time. For comparison purposes, it climbs just above Kings Dominion’s popular Drop Tower attraction and is located near the park’s SkyFlyer attraction. “During the day, or at night when the ride will be illuminated with spectacular LED lighting, WindSeeker provides riders with unparalleled views of the park and surrounding attractions,” notes Kings Dominion vice-president and general manager, Pat Jones, adding that it has already become one of the park's more popular rides.
Kings Dominion also invites guests to roar back in time to periods between 245 million and 65 million years ago as they walk through Dinosaurs Alive!, the park’s new interactive dinosaur attraction. A temporary exhibit for 2012, 36 animatronic dinosaurs are on display in an outdoor forest setting.
Waterpark on water!
Sailing for the very first time on June 3, Carnival Breeze, the newest “Fun Ship” in the fleet of Carnival cruise lines, is offering passengers their very own onboard waterpark.
Signature attractions at Carnival
WaterWorks – all by WhiteWater – include Champagne Bowl waterslide (pictured left), an AquaDrop slide featuring AquaLaunch capsule and an AquaPlay multi-level interactive play structure.
WhiteWater created the first Champagne Bowl in 2009 following Carnival's request for an onboard SpaceBowl. Since the SpaceBowl's splash pool would take up too much deck space on the boat, the Champagne Bowl was designed to produce the same thrilling drop, centrifugal forces and wall time, but with a compact, spiral staircase exit. Carnival Spirit will be setting sail from Barcelona and Miami for destinations in Alaska, Hawaiia, Tahitia and Fiji.

Kings Dominion has also introduced Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia for 2012, a 3D movie narrated by Donald Sutherland and shown in the park’s Action Theatre.
Fantawild expands
The Chinese park operator and manufacturer of high-tech attractions Hytechnology is on course to establish eight Fantawild properties by next year, making it one of the country’s largest amusement park chains. The firm already operates Fantawild parks in Wuhu, Qingdao, Shantou,
Tai'an, Shenyang, Zhuzhou and Zhengzhou, as well as a joint venture in Isfahan, Iran. Each park features a distinct mix of traditional amusement rides, technology-based attractions and cultural experiences based on local legends. The largest is the outlet in Wuhan, which entertains over 1 million annual guests.
Next to open will be Fantawild in Xiamen, Fujian Province, followed by
Tianjin near Beijing later in 2013. As well as attractions from Hytechnology and various Chinese ride manufacturers; each of these parks is in line for a Boomerang coaster from Vekoma. Further overseas ventures are planned in Ukraine and South Africa.
