Orange County Convention Center

Connectivity bridges the facility and its surrounding district into the future

With 2.1 million square feet, the Orange Coun- ty Convention Center (OCCC) is already one of the largest and most flexible convention centers in the country. Now with the addi- tion of new technology, network solutions, infrastructure, and pedestrian bridges, the OCCC can keep show managers, exhibitors, and attendees conveniently and effortlessly connected. In partnership with Smart City, the OCCC

now houses the largest wireless network of any convention center in the nation. Due for completion at the end of the summer, the OCCC’s already impressive wireless network will double in size. Planners can also utilize EventPath, a new service from Smart City that gives planners the ability to bring their

show ofice, registration, sponsors, and even the show floor into their nearby hotel. Two of EventPath’s most popular features include 24-hour remote speaker check-in and an inte- grated wireless network that enables devices to remember an event’s Wi-Fi address. Always a leader in customer service, the

OCCC makes processing exhibitor requests for rigging, utilities, and other convention services a snap. The innovative Exhibitor Mobile Connection (EMC) Program brings the OCCC’s service desk directly to exhibitors in the form of Exhibitor Services Coordina- tors, who roam the show floor armed with wireless tablets to quickly and easily assist with service calls. The center’s new technology capabili-

ties extend to the convention attendee as well. A new mobile web app (m.occc.net) gives attendees and exhibitors the power to quickly find nearby restaurants and other information via an interactive Convention Center District map. The mobile web app also includes everything from floor maps to real-time flight statuses, and can even be translated into 34 languages. With the cen- ter’s new complimentary Wi-Fi in public areas, accessing the mobile web app is seamless.
