solar / thermal installations on commercial buildings in London and the simple clamp-on, non-invasive solutions from Micronics, have offered significant advantages over the traditional alternative of in-line meters and their re- quirement for system drain-down, pipe cutting, re-filling systems and the associated costs, which are all avoided by the use of a clamp-on solution.
For the rainwater harvesting project a claim for a reduc-
tion in the sewage charge is being developed by using a Micronics U3000 to demonstrate how much rainwater is being dumped to sewage by metering the amount of water being pumped into a grey water tank in comparison to the boosted cooling water entering the tank.

Until now, wastewater pumps have had to compromise between free passage to ob- tain reliable operation and high efficiency to obtain low operational costs. With the launch of the new S Tube, Grundfos has produced a completely new technology
Vortex has advantages
Balmoral Tanks claims its new vortex inhibitor (VI) offers significant technical improve- ments over current market options. The new component complements the company’s range of fire protection sprin- kler water storage tanks. Bal- morals’ hot press moulded and steel sectional tanks, as well as its range of cylindrical steel tanks, are all Loss Pre- vention Certification Board (LPCB) approved for the stor-
Complete sensing solution
The KAPTA 2000-AC2 new genera- tion sensor is Endetec’s answer to in-line water sensing needs. With a complete line of amperometric probes, the KAPTA product range offers environmental detection solutions for water quality distribu- tion networks and industrial pro- cess control.
The smooth and uniform flow leads to drag reduction and a decrease in suction require- ments
age of sprinkler system water on a UK and international basis.
LPCB-approved tanks are built to exacting specifications and are designed to provide a low maintenance service life of at least ten years. When put to use, these systems require large, fast flowing volumes of water and VI’s play a vital role by preventing air being drawn into the system which ultimately reduces the flow rate; a highly undesirable situation should a fire occur. Approved to LPCB LPS 2070 and BSEN 12845 standards, the new inhibitor provides a 30% reduction in pump suction pressure requirements.
www.balmoraltanks.com Temperature modules New technology: the S Tube
that has created a pump that ensures both low operating and maintenance costs.
The new S-tube is part of a new pump series and over the next 12 months more sizes will become available with additional S-tubes in smaller pump sizes available later in 2012. Remaining members of the product series will ex- pand the range with several more sizes and models due. In addition to the “unique” combination of the S Tube impel- ler with large free passage and high efficiency, the pump is fitted with the energy-efficient Blueflux motor technology that already meets the strictest efficiency requirements. When you combine the Grundfos wastewater pumps with Grundfos’ control and surveillance systems, you end up with the intelligent Autoadapt, which automatically ensu- res optimum operation, even under changing conditions.

Trolex has launched a Group 1 and Group II Humidity module and a new Temperature module to be used in either their Sentro 8 or Sentro 1 sys- tems. The company sensed a gap in the market for Group 1 and Group II Humidity sensors and decided to invest in the technology.
The Temperature module can
sense temperature ranges from -10°C to 40°C with an ac- curacy of ±2°C whilst the Humidity module ranges from 10 to 95% RH, with ±8% accuracy.
The Temperature module also gives a sub display of the current ambient humidity whilst the Humidity module also gives a sub display of the current ambient temperature. Sentro 8, the result of a two-year development, can mon- itor all types of environmental conditions such as vibration, pressure and flow, and now the temperature and humidity with these new modules. Also gases such as methane, oxygen and carbon monoxide, can be monitored all in one integrated package. Sentro 8 is ready to be configured to meet gas detection and condition monitoring requirements without the need for complex investment in system design or the need for specialist back-up.

eters whilst still maintaining good cable retention. The junction box comes ready packaged with a silicone sealing gel to ensure that it offers IP68 protection. The latest Paguro junction box, available exclusively from Hylec-APL, is supplied with specialised adaptors for the entry points which allow for secure entry of cables ranging from 6.5mm to 12mm Ø. With a small footprint of only 44x95x24mm, the enclosure takes up a very minimal space and is supplied with either a 3 or 4 pole terminal block; making it ideal for a number of outdoor applications – the 4 pole connection lending itself perfectly to outdoor lighting for example. The Paguro uses a specially devel- oped silicone gel to ensure that the connection has an ingress protection rating of IP68 to a depth of up to 1.3m; making it ideal for underground connections.

ASM Sensors has expand- ed its newest product line of tape extension position sensors, POSITAPE, with the introduction of the WB25 series. The POSI- TAPE family was developed for applications requiring the use of cable pulleys due space limitations.
The KAPTA 2000-AC2 sensor has been specifically developed to measure active chlorine (HOCl) and temperature directly within a pressurised pipe. The applica-

tions include management and control of a drinking wa- ter network, real-time, rapid control of chemical dosing for industrial water processes, protection of membranes and cleaning regimes and management of chlorine levels within swimming pools and spas. It is an amperometric sensor using a structured photo-polymerised membrane directly on the electrode which suppresses the well-known drawbacks of amperometric sensors with electrolyte, such as pressure and flow sensitivity. This enables the probe to be installed directly within pipes up to 10bar flow pressure without flow or pressure control.

Multi-voltage interlock Castell
Safety International has
launched a new multi-voltage in- terlock primarily
for use with un- Flexible: POSITAPE
The measurement ranges of the WB25 series are 12m, 15m, 20m and 25m all in very compact housings. The highly flexible measurement tape is constructed out of a high-tech stainless steel material that is 10mm wide with only a 0.08mm thickness. Due to its very smooth sur- face, the risk of icing is reduced. An integral tape dust wiper automatically cleans the tape each time that it is being retracted into the housing.
The WB25 series has a standard IP64 enclosure rating
with an option for an IP67 rating and is available with the typical analog outputs: 0.5-10V, 0.5-4.5 and 4-20 mA. For the digital output versions, CANopen, CAN SAE J1939 and SSI protocols are available. The linearity of WB25 series sensor is +/- 0.05% of full scale.

of innovative design improvements, including multi-voltage input. Having a wide voltage input range means that a sin- gle device now replaces eight previous devices; the input voltage for the KSUPS+ ranges from 24 V AC or DC to 220 V AC or DC. As a safety device, the integrity of the KSUPS+ is vital. A monitored solenoid increases the safety perfor- mance rating of the KSUPS+, ensuring a higher level of protection for personnel whilst working on UPS systems. Castell has also reviewed the aesthetics of the KSUPS+. This improves the look of switchgear cabinets, aids opera- tional efficiency and gives a clear indication of where the safety component is located on a panel. The KSUPS+ re- tains the same mounting dimensions as the previous unit and therefore the KSUPS+ can be retrofitted.
