Alaska Airlines and sister carrier, Horizon Air, face $655,125 in fines for alleged maintenance errors. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says Horizon operated a Bombardier Dash-8-400 on 45 flights while the aircraft was out of compliance with an airworthiness directive that required inspection for cracked or corroded engine nacelle fittings. Alaska Airlines allegedly failed to properly document and tag deactivated systems and equipment in 10 instances during repairs of six B737s between June 19, 2010, and Jan. 13, 2011. Horizon and Alaska face $445,125 and $210,000 in civil penalties, respectively.
