Cmdr. John Baumgarten, USN-Ret. (Life Member since 1992): Baumgarten serves as the second vice president of Mem- ber Services for the Virginia Council of Chapters and as director


of Member Services for MOAA’s Richmond (Va.) Area Chapter. In that capaci- ty, he maintains the membership roster; writes, edits, and publishes the chap- ter’s newsletter, The Patriot; and maintains the chapter website. Baumgarten also delivers weekly e-newsletters to solicit rapid response to alerts.


Lt. Col. Karl R. Bossi, USAF-Ret. (Member since 1987): In his 23-year career, Bossi served as an enlisted air passenger spe- cialist and a regular offi cer in aerospace munitions maintenance and explosive ordnance disposal. A Vietnam War veteran, Bossi


became an integrated logistics support engineer in military avionics for Sperry Flight Systems and Honeywell. In 2005, Bossi published a memoir, Just Call Me Moose! He also is a member of the Legacy Circle of donors to the MOAA Scholarship Fund.


Col. Stanley D. Cass, USA-Ret. (Life Member since 1998): Cass, a past president of MOAA’s Northern Colorado Chapter, has been the force behind organizing Honor Flight Northern


Colorado. To date, Cass has organized seven fl ights to Washington, D.C., for veterans who served in World War II so they could see the memorial built in their honor. Cass donates his time soliciting monetary contributions, charter- ing fl ights, arranging lodging and transportation, and coordinating volunteers.


Lt. Col. John Nowicki, USA-Ret. (Life Member since 1975): Nowicki served three tours in Europe and two in Vietnam. He commanded several combat and armored engineer companies and


the 549th Combat Engineer Battalion in Europe. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Nowicki retired from active service in 1975 to work for 18-plus years as a corporate parts manager for a Minnesota construction equipment distributor. For the past 12 years, he has served as a director for MOAA’s Minnesota Chapter.
