Fidelity is one of the best known and largest asset managers in the UK. They have strength across all asset classes with particularly strong records in fixed interest and multi-asset funds.
The group’s fund managers are among the best represented in the FE Alpha Manager rating which rewards managers with a proven track record in both rising and falling markets.
Fidelity has a culture for cultivating star managers and the house style allows managers to pursue their own technical analysis, asset allocation and stock specific decisions free from constraint.
More than a quarter of the funds run by Fidelity have FE Alpha Managers at their head and in Ian Spreadbury, Anthony Bolton and Michael Clark the
group can boast some of the best fund manager talent in the industry.
Anthony Bolton is arguably the best-known fund manager in the UK. Investors who put £1,000 into his Special Situations fund when it was launched in 1979 would have made more than £140,000 by the time he handed over the reins to Sanjeev Shah in 2007.
Bolton now lives in Hong Kong running the China Special Situations Invest- ment Trust.
Michael Clark is the up and coming star in the firm, turning heads with his sector-leading Fidelity Enhanced Income fund.
Spreadbury heads up six fixed income funds including the group’s flagship Moneybuilder Income portfolio.
