Alliance Trust Investments is a boutique fund management firm launched in 2009 as a subsidiary of Alliance Trust PLC.


The firm currently has seven funds under management, with combined assets of more than £570m. The largest, Alliance Trust Monthly Income Bond Fund, has £228m assets under management (AUM).


The firm’s seven funds cover a range of geographies, six of which are focused on equities and one on the fixed interest market.


The funds use a blend of Investments styles, with a long-term investment hori- zon. Most of Alliance Trust Investments' managers are bottom up stock pick- ers, though the Alliance Trust Global Thematic Opportunities Fund is more

focused on a top-down appreciation of the macro environment.


An in-house economics research team provides independent analysis, and the firm describes itself as risk aware rather than risk averse, selecting investments based on the long-term goals of investors.


All of the funds in the range charge performance fees relative to their benchmark, which is compensated by below-average annual management charges. Their two newest funds, Alliance Trust Monthly Income Bond Fund and Alliance Trust Global Thematic Opportunities Fund also offer a fixed annual management charge.


Launched within the previous three years, the portfolios are too young to have received FE crown ratings.
