DROP / BREAKDOWN “This is a fairly short breakdown… You can get away with a maximum 32 bars of no beats, then you need something that keeps the rhythm going and the feet moving, even if it is just a little clap.


BUILD UP “To get those hands in the air… I recorded a pitch-bend in the region to get the note rising up and muted the note on every fourth beat - very effective for creating tonnes of energy.


MIXDOWN “I tend to mix as I go along. Each time I come back I tweak the individual channels a bit more. At the end play it next to a track that has been released to see how it compares. I use some NI plugins, Sylenth, I also have the waves plugins but you can do a lot with just the native Logic plugins. It is mostly about fi nding the right source sounds in the fi rst place, especially for the drums …
