The SNIA Europe Datacentre Technologies Academy London: Raising the bar By Jon Tate, SNIA Europe UK Country Committee Chair, IBM
I
n my role as chairman of the UK Committee of SNIA Europe I would like to encourage you to take a new look at participating in our Academy program this year. The 2012 edition of the SNIA Europe Datacenter Technologies Academy scheduled for Wednesday 23rd May 2012 at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel, London E1 promises to raise the bar in terms of the content this year with new speakers and content focussed on the business issues surrounding IT deployments in 2012 and beyond.
Heading the 2012 speaker roster is ex-ESG analyst and BT CIO Steve O’Donnell, who will open the conference looking at the current decisions and key issues facing almost every CIO or head of IT services in any industry today. Steve is a 30-year veteran of running IT Infrastructure working up to CEO level in large global organizations, such as BT, First Data, Cable & Wireless, MEEZA and Lehman Brothers. He is an active investor in the technology industry. He has industry-recognized green credentials and is a winner of three excellence awards for green data centre efficiency. He is recognized as one of the thought leaders in Storage, Data Centres, Cloud Services and IT Operations.
Also on the agenda will be an open discussion on the sweeping changes proposed in the latest European data protection law that could affect almost every type of business in the UK. This session will be headed up by Ann LaFrance, Coordinating Partner of Squire Sanders’ communications law team in EMEA and advisor to the SNIA Europe Board of Directors. Ms LaFrance has over two decades of experience advising private and public sector clients on regulatory, policy, competition and commercial law matters involving the TMT

The 2012 Academy sponsors already include Actifio, Aptare, Emulex, LSI, Quantum, Silver Peak, SmartOptics and more, and the agenda will also feature new content from SNIA focussed on the higher level issues facing IT decision makers today such as ‘Building the Business Case for Cloud’, ‘The Effective Use of Solid State Storage in the Enterprise’, ‘Data Center Evolution and Network Convergence’, ‘A Hype-free Stroll through Cloud Storage Security’ and ‘The Impact of Virtual Desktops on Storage’.
So if any of these issues and subjects form a part of your sales and marketing strategies I would ask that you contact Carly Stephens at our Academy partners Angel Business Communications on 01923 690 223 or email at
