Low-cost amplifiers for high-linearity systems
A novel hardware and software design delivers excellent performance at moderate cost E
TSA is a worldwide specialist in the design and manufacturing of high linearity amplifiers. Now the company
has developed an innovative technology which enhances the performance of its amplifiers without jeopardizing the cost. Two kinds of applications require the use of highly linear amplifiers: first, base station amplifiers for TETRA BS, and secondly MCPAs (Multi Carrier Power Amplifiers) for repeater applications. In both cases, the technologies available
are generally energy-intensive (Class A PA) or relatively complex to implement (Cartesian loop) or expensive (feed-forward amplifiers). ETSA has developed a mixed technology to reap the advantages without the drawbacks
of each approach. Te technology employed is a pre-corrected system associated with a Doherty configuration. In addition, real-time embedded software is included to improve the overall specifications. Tis technology allows the production of low-cost amplifiers with the high performance required in systems using complex modulation. Te result is an IP3
of +68 dBm which is
stable over a wide range of temperatures. Te amplifier is available for 400MHz applications and also for the 800MHz frequency range. nVisit ETSA at booth E601, at the TETRA World Congress 2012 in Dubai.
