alaysian company Sapura Secured Technologies has engaged Teltronic to supply a wide-area TETRA
network which will provide coverage to the Kuala Lumpur region and other territories across Malaysia. Te TETRA network, which will be the
largest outside Europe, will include 112 site base stations and two redundant switching control nodes. In addition, there will be three inter-system nodes to provide communications with the existing nationwide TETRA network
collaborate in specialized mission-critical LTE solutions via a long-term development programme. Te 3GPP LTE standard is emerging as their preferred technology for future, high-speed mobile broadband services. “With this collaboration, the Malaysian
TETRA network will be the first nationwide network to seamlessly integrate multi-vendor platforms”, said Mohd Zarif Hashim, chief executive of Sapura Secured Technologies. “Te resulting technology from the joint development with Teltronic can be utilized by other TETRA network operators around the world.”
n In South America, Teltronic has been chosen to provide a TETRA radio communications system for an extension to the Lima Metro.
Covert devices offer opportunity

overt devices are being used by around two per cent of the TETRA
community, new research reveals. A study by IMS Research, finds that the covert market now represents significant growth opportunities for the industry. This is important for TETRA vendors,
it says, because covert devices offer specialized features that add new customers to the market. Recent years have seen an increase in TETRA users requiring devices such as covert and Atex radios. Thomas Lynch, mobile radio market
analyst at IMS Research commented: “The covert market presents a unique opportunity for vendor manufacturers to gain increased margins by providing solutions in features and hardware that allow specialist operators the confidence to carry out their operations successfully.”
