“Columbia Empire Region is dedicating
its staff and resources to developing boys’ volleyball in the region,” Columbia Empire Region Operations Director Joe Boken said. “This will be a truly developmental pro- gram, where athletes are taught how to play from the ground to the approach to the slam. Where our other programs focus on provid- ing varied playing opportunities, our boys’ program will be offering varied learning opportunities.”
Florida Region The Florida Region of USA Volleyball and Exclusive Sports Marketing announced a change in tour management along with the 2012 tour schedule for the USAV Dig the Beach Series.
Florida Region has assumed all manage- ment responsibilities for the longest running beach tour in Florida and will now be the only region in USA Volleyball to manage a large multi-stop tour. USAV Dig the Beach region tour stops in 2012 will take place at four of the most desirable beaches in Florida: • April 14-15: Fort Lauderdale Tour Kick- off, Fort Lauderdale Beach, Fla.

USA Premier League The Florida Region’s first indoor women’s
pro team, Team Florida WAVE, the Florida Region’s first women’s professional volleyball team and a member of the USA Premier Vol- leyball League (PVL), competed in their its match at the University of Central Florida on Saturday. The WAVE took on UCF and Rol- lins College in what would be the first matches that a PVL team has competed against outside competition. The USA PVL is a grass roots professional
volleyball league beginning in 2012 and it will be made up of teams from among of the 40 Regional Volleyball Associations across the United States. The USA PVL is sanctioned by USA Volleyball and will offer tourna- ment play and a League Championship event each year. Eight Regions - Arizona Region, Florida Region, Intermountain Region, Iowa Region, New England Region, North Texas Region and Northern California Volleyball Association - have confirmed participation in the inaugural 2012 season culminating with competition at the 2012 USA Volleyball Open National Championships in May 2012. usapvl.com. The WAVE was split into two teams dur- ing the exhibition matches: Red and Blue. WAVE Red finished the afternoon 2-0 against UCF and Rollins, while the WAVE Blue split two matches.
