Junior beach rankings set for 2012 season

SA Volleyball will launch a junior beach rankings to complement the 2012 USA


Beach Junior Tour, which is scheduled to feature 26 events in 17 states. The tour, open to registered boys’ and girls’ members ages 10 to 18, will cap 11 weekends of competition with the USA Beach Junior Tour Championships to be held July 28-29 at Bradford Beach in Milwaukee, Wis. A record 21 different USA Volleyball Re- gions are participating in this year’s tour and the new national ranking system will allow players to gauge themselves against competi- tion from around the nation. The rankings are scheduled to be initially released on April 1. “The 2012 London Games are sure to bring beach volleyball to the forefront of sports this summer. We are pleased to offer the Beach Junior Tour as a way for girls and boys to get involved and play an Olympic sport,” USA Volleyball CEO Doug Beal said. “We believe the Beach Junior Rankings will add tremen- dous interest and another great benefi t to competing in the 2012 tour.” New events for 2012 include the Aloha Open (Waikiki, Hawaii), Lone Star Open (Austin, Texas), Gulf Coast Open (new loca- tion in Pensacola, Fla.), Rocky Mountain
