etamorphosis Medical Group is a different kind of solo gynecology
practice, and so is the practitioner that started it. For the owner, Deborah Levich,
MD MBA, the doctor-patient relationship is the foundation for providing the best medical care. She shares: “It’s a lot like a teacher- student relationship in that it’s my responsibility to impart information then coach patients to use that information to better their health.

It’s a partnership with both the patient and doctor working together to improve our quality of life.” The practice provides non-surgical gynecology services, as well as primary care and basic mental health evaluation for women of all ages. The building also serves as host to a family therapist, acupuncturist, massage therapist and an exercise/nutrition therapist – all professional women meeting women’s complete needs. Of particular personal interest to
Dr. Levich are those of us “maturing beyond our child-bearing years who appreciate the vitality of our youth and want to age gracefully, but may not be sure how to make our later years healthier and more productive.” Believing a great need exists
for female gynecologists to be available to women of all ages, Metamorphosis Medical Group recently began to accept Medicare Part B recipients. Women using Medicare B are eligible for women’s wellness exams and PAP tests in addition to their regular annual wellness exam given by their primary care physician.
with both the patient and doctor working together to improve our quality of life.”
Doctor-patient relationship Another important component of
the relationship is trust. “Without the patient’s trust, I’m not going to get the best results for them, which really is the goal.” It’s important to Dr. Levich that the patient understands what things help and what things are going to be detrimental to their health, and how they can make changes to get the best results. The goal according to the doctor is, “to live a happy, healthy, well-balanced life and not have to go to the doctor so often”. Dr. Levich’s goal is to catch
people as they’re leaving their childbearing years. She says, “These are the distracted years for ‘self’ and women frequently put themselves last on their list of people to take care of.” It can be difficult, but she works at coaxing people to re-orient their caretaking to include themselves.
Taking the time Having once worked in a large medical group, Dr. Levich prides herself on spending 30 minutes with each patient during their annual visit, as opposed to the 7-minute allotment that is typical of a larger practice. For non-Medicare patients who
don’t have any debilitating diseases, Dr. Levich is happy to handle your primary care as well. She states, “I think it’s extremely unfair that women need two doctors when men only need one, but many primary care doctors will not do GYN exams. Some will do a cursory exam, but anything even remotely off the beaten path will have them sending you to a specialist.” The luxury of having sufficient
time during an appointment enables Dr. Levich to achieve a more accurate assessment of where you are physically and if you’re having physical issues, a more accurate diagnosis. “In 90% of cases, by taking a good history and conducting a thorough physical exam, I can save patients a lot of unnecessary and expensive lab work, and the need for multiple visits.” Dr. Levich strives to have her
patients achieve “a sense of having a personal relationship with someone
who gets to know, not only who you are physically, but who you are in your life – because that’s a huge influence on your health.” What adds to this relationship is the ability to communicate effectively. An important part of that ability is the new “Communicator” feature of their state-of-the-art electronic medical record system. This system allows the doctor to communicate with her patients via password-protected, secure e-mail, while also allowing secure access to certain parts of the patient’s medical record. If you are looking to nourish your
health and yourself as an alternative to the “take a number” approach to medical services, Metamorphosis Medical Group and the professionals at The Health Center at Roswell Walk welcome you.
