DIGITAL RETAILER PROFILES: GETGAMES/METABOLI GET CRACKING
From charity bundles to brand new titles, UK-based GetGames continues to grow
ALTHOUGH GetGames is only three years old, its place in the Mastertronic Group means it is staffed by industry veterans. “We have been selling games directly to consumers for over 20 years and supplying digital download distribution and retail since 2004,” explains operations director Dermot Stapleton “We don’t shove a huge range of gear in a virtual warehouse and leave the customer to it – we provide a one-to-one service.” One of the company’s biggest sellers was the Little Big Bunch, a bundle of five indie games that was released to raise money for GamesAid. GetGames also stocks a range of big retail games after customer demands and promises more Big Bunches are on the way.

WHITE LABEL digital games provider Metaboli is one of the longest running companies in the sector – and for good reason. The company has established partnerships with a multitude of retailers and publishers. Metaboli managers the direct-to-consumer e-stores for Ubisoft, Sega, Atari and Focus Interactive – to name a few. And last year, these portals took the company to new heights. “2011 was our best performance year since Metaboli was founded,” says European sales director Mario Utz. “We were established as No.2 in the world of digital premium games distribution. “This year we want to establish our position as Steam’s challenger and continue exceptional growth with the launch of new features.”
