Thule receives Green Dot Award for sustainable product development
T
he Thule WingBar has received an Honourable Mention in the prestigious Green Dot Awards, an award that is given to companies that practice excellence in environmental responsibility. With its noiseless design, Thule WingBar has aimed to set a new standard for quietness, safety and sustainability in the growing market for roof racks. The awarded Thule WingBar has been developed by Thule’s design team and tested in Thule’s specially built Thule Aerolab in order to obtain the most efficient air and weight capacities possible. The result is a roof rack that is nearly noiseless and can be mounted on all cars. Helly Hansen supports Royal Navy Alpine Championships

lobal technical performance sportswear brand, Helly Hansen, has supported the Royal Navy Alpine Championships in their quest to select a Royal Navy team to compete in the Inter- Services Ski and Snowboard Championships. The Alpine Championships held in Tignes, Val Claret, joined personnel from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and the Reserves for two weeks of intense training and racing. The event, which was held in January, attracted a presence of over 100 Royal Marines from 42 Commando, despite having just returned from Afghanistan. The two- week ski program compromised instruction at every level of ability, ranging from beginners to advanced race training. The objective of the event was to provide quality driven training to those wanting to improve and develop their physical and mental strengths on and off piste. One of James’ first tasks will be working on the newly launched Karrimor Great Trail Challenge that takes place on 17 June 2012 in the Lake District. This trail event will include a 10k, half marathon and marathon on a course designed to cater for everyone from new trail runners to experienced marathon runners who are looking for a new challenge.

Championship Director, Lt Cdr Robert Taylor said: ’The Alpine championships were extremely exciting and as always a great challenge and success. Highlander takes on new Buying Manager

ighlander Scotland Ltd has announced the arrival of their new Buying Manager, Sarah Ward. Sarah joins Highlander at a time of significant growth as they are continuing to expand their product portfolio and are well underway with the selling of their London 2012 Official Olympic Merchandise.
Sarah is very familiar with the Outdoor Industry having been with Gelert for 14 years until moving to Highlander in late 2011.
