USNANO and Magnisense have signed a letter of intent setting out the details of an investment
in Magnisense SE, a French developer of the next ge- neration of in vitro bioassays. RUSNANO will invest up to EUR28.5 million over a three-year period in the joint project whose total cost is put at EUR44.3 million. The remaining co-investment will come from Magnisense’s existing and new shareholders.
The new project will manufacture in Russia an advanced diagnostic system based on Magnisense’s proprietary technology MIAtek®
– a magnetic im-
munoassay in which nanosized magnetic beads are attached to an antibody that selectively binds target molecules, micro-organisms, or other antibodies in test media.

ilicor Materials, formerly Calisolar Inc., has secured memorandum of understanding with
two major partners as it moves toward construction of its large-scale manufacturing facility in Lowndes County, Mississippi: Suntech Power Holdings Co.,

Ltd (NYSE: STP) for offtake of 40 percent of the facility’s solar silicon, and the Lowndes County Board of Supervisors for the receipt of $19 million of financial incentives, as part of a $94 million total package of loans, grants and infrastructure incentives from Lowndes County and the State of Mississippi. The company’s rebrand as Silicor Materials Inc. is designed to align with its strategic focus on silicon production, and is effective immediately.

Enterprise Associates (NEA), Advanced Technology Ventures (ATV), Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) and IQE. Solar Junction is a manufacturer of high efficien- cy III-V multi-junction solar cells based on ASLAM™ materials. The new investment and partnership is to scale up Solar Junction‘s manufacturing of its world record cell of 43.5% efficiency.

ol-Gel Technologies Ltd. has entered into a second development and licensing agreement
with a leading US pharmaceutical company for the development and commercialization in the US and Canada of a major dermatologic drug.
