products has outstripped industry capacity due to the rapid uptake of coherent optical technology coupled with industry supply constraints attributable to the flooding in Thailand in 2011.

NeoPhotonics announced also the sample availability of its PIC-based Multicast Switch for next generation ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiple- xer) applications. The Multicast Switch is designed in a dual 8x16 configuration, offering 16 drop and add ports and accommodating up to 8 directions. The capabilities of the NeoPhotonics PIC platform also enable support for architectures requiring 8x12 or 8x24 configurations as well as offering the option of integrated power monitoring for each port.

extreme Thermal Solutions announced that its thin-film thermoelectric technology has achie-

ved a 60.1° C (140.18° F) temperature difference between its cold and hot sides at an ambient tem- perature of 24.7° C (76.46° F), bringing it on par with the performance of bulk thermoelectric tech- nology. The 60°C temperature milestone, known as the ΔTmax, reflects the ability of the thermoelectric device to pump heat efficiently.

erlikon Group (SWX: OERL) sells its Solar Segment to Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL) of

Japan. The sale is a strategic move for Oerlikon to further focus its portfolio and enable management to develop the larger, high performing businesses in the Group, in order to continue profitable growth.

The Oerlikon Group reported further substantial performance improvements in 2011, with sales incre- asing by 16% to CHF4.2 billion ($4.6 billion) and Group profitability delivering a record EBIT margin of 10%. Geographically, the Group sharpened its focus on Asia to further leverage the considerable growth opportunities in the region. China is now Oerlikon’s larges location worldwide and represents 40% of Textile Segment sales. Overall sales in Asia grew to 49% of the 2011 total, with China remaining the driving force.

is a naturally flowable and self-leveling material. Due to its transparent appearance, MED-6219 can be used for potting and encapsulating electronic devices or for making molded parts. Because it can be vulca- nized at both high and low temperatures, this elasto- mer is particularly suitable for temperature-sensitive substrates or for use in environments with fluctuating temperatures.

The Company also announced the release of MED- 6671, a room temperature curable coating that significantly decreases the coefficient of friction of a cured silicone surface.
