The DCA is a professional Association comprising Industry leaders from across the data centre Industry and was formed by industry professionals that recognised the confusion and misinformation surrounding the quality and ratings of data centre facilities. In addition to promoting the adoption of best practice design and operational standards, the DCA’s primary role is to act as an Accreditation Body for these standards and membership is open to data centre operators both private and commercial as well as organisations which support the industry. The DCA is committed to feeding expertise and experience from across the industry into academia and higher educational

programmes to ensure the future health, growth and sustainability of the industry.

Some key issues that will be addressed throughout the summit are: £ Measure and compare in-house costs vs colocation and hosting £ How to interpret and understand the meaning of tier ratings and which is most appropriate for my business

£ How to tell which data centres will be most cost effective £ What scalability do I need for future growth? £ How important is geographic location £ What added services and expertise should I look for in an outsourced hosting partner?

The Managed Services Convention 2012

The Managed Services Convention is the primary UK channel event addressing the implications that the combination of the Cloud, Mobility, new intelligent devices and Consumerisation is having on the implementation and delivery of business solutions. These disruptive technological changes are having a profound effect on channel business models and causing a complete rethink on the role of IT.

The ‘Cloud’ has become the dominant topic of deliberation and conversation over the last few years with arguments about ‘public’ and ‘private’ clouds and which is the best for the customer. For the channel however the issue is much broader than the technology behind the delivery of business applications, it is all about the service the customer now expects, the way they want to consume applications and pay for those applications and who is responsible for the service level agreement, contract management and billing. What the customer is now looking for is a Managed Service. Whether that is delivered via a ‘private’ or ‘public’ cloud will be decided by

issues to do with privacy, security, capital investment and ‘ownership’. What the channel needs to decide is whether it wants to play in this Managed Services world. The main content of the convention is to help the channel in its deliberations by highlighting all the possible business opportunities and the issues and challenges related to them. During the sessions in the morning and afternoon we will attempt to cover the six major opportunity areas with the help of our sponsors. The draft content for these sessions is outlined below.

The Managed Services Convention is a must attend event for any senior decision maker in a UK ICT channel company. Having a grasp of the essential information around such a crucial topic is important however being able to listen to differing views and then debate them with potential partners and your peers is vital to real understanding.
