Winning Customer Service Excellence Store of the Year had been a goal of Mary Linton’s team at Store #382 for the past five years. “We always made the top 10, but we wanted to be


number one,” Mary said. To stay on track, Mary and her team discussed


every shop score and devoted a large portion of each store meeting talking about TCF and how to do it better. In addition, her management team focused on


tackling any problems a customer had immedi- ately and assured the customer they were happy to take care of the issue, which ultimately limited the number of 800 calls made about this store. Also critical to their store’s success was a focus

on fun. “I’m a crazy person,” Mary said. “It’s nothing for us


to be dancing and singing while we’re making food at lunch time, and we’re doing it fast, too. “We have a great sales team and management


team,” Mary continued. “I attribute winning to them. They work so hard throughout the year for good shops and try to be their best every single day.”


For Store #38, near the Penn State Altoona campus in Altoona, PA, setting expectations is the key to continued success. “Our management team is on board with our


standards and expectations, and they get the rest of our employees committed as well,” said Glory Kirk, store manager. “Our team gets excited about hearing our QA scores. They look forward to it. They’re very motivated.” Glory says her store employees treat every

day as an inspection and new employees quickly develop high standards as well. “At first they may not understand our goals,


but then they get the first good score and earn a Sheetz Z-Card®, or have no codes in food and get a WOW pin—that’s a big thing for them, too. They’re all high-fiving with the rest of us.”
