more than 14,000 employees, we achieved outstanding results in 2011! At the Operational Excellence awards ceremony, held during our Year End meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, we recognized our store and district leaders who led the way in specific areas of our business. Congratula- tions to these winners: District Manager Pam Kuntz, who led District #1 (Blair County, PA area) to the top as District of the Year, and Store Manager Denise Booher from Store #429, Triadelphia, WV, who achieved her first Store of the Year win!

president’s note

“Winner” You could be one!

Have you ever wondered what it takes

to earn the title District of the Year, for example? Let me tell you, it takes a driven-to-win attitude, lots of teamwork, and of course, great shop scores. We have specific criteria that must be met in a number of categories before a district can be declared a winner. But believe it or not, the difference between first and second place could be as simple as a smile. That actually happened! The scores

were so close one year that we dug in and looked back at all of them, finding the one thing that made a difference—it came down to a smile. One district pushed ahead to the top because its employees did a better job of showing their pearly whites to our customers every day. You see, Total Customer Focus (TCF)

isn’t just a phrase we throw around lightly. It’s a Mission we are dedicated to uphold. We try to impress its importance upon all employees because we know it makes a difference to our customers. The employees who understand that—who get it and live it—are the ones who reap the benefits.

And I don’t just mean winning the title

of “District of the Year.” I’m referring to the wins that walk through your doors every day. Your customers come back to Sheetz because they feel welcome, like part of the family. They choose to eat our food, buy our products and pump our fuel. Retailers of all shapes and sizes are out there enticing customers with new offers. Yet, more than a million customers per day choose Sheetz! Our fans are devoted to us, and that’s why we need to be devoted right back to them through TCF and hospitality. Let that ooey-gooey feeling of love you

have for Sheetz be seen by our customers through your actions and especially your bright smiles! It will propel us to new heights as a company, and in turn, make us all winners!
