For over a century, Japanese sportswear manufacturer Mizuno has led the fi eld in terms of research, design and innovation, and over the years the brand has consistently cra ed technical sporting goods that are sold in over 50 countries.


Is there any diversifi cation into new markets? Mizuno’s new Performance Underwear sees the brand move into more of an outdoor/recreational sector with this new range also appealing to running markets across Europe. Packed full of technology, Mizuno’s Performance Underwear is


designed to accommodate for the everyday demands of outdoor sport and activity. Available as a full range of sports apparel and accessories, Mizuno’s fabric technologies include Dynamic Plus to reduce the stress and friction of movement and Breath Thermo - a revolutionary material that generates heat from the body moisture of the wearer.


Have you any products to capitalise on the London Olympics? The London Olympics are going to be a fantastic opportunity for us to celebrate and showcase the Mizuno brand across the World. Having made big updates to the newly launched Wave Inspire 8 and Wave Rider 15 running shoes we expect these models to be the big sellers of the year. There will also be an exclusive new colour-way to mark the Games which will be released later in the year across the footwear and apparel range.


Are there any value-added services that you off er the retailer? We have a dedicated team of Mizuno technical reps who are consistently visiting retailers to make sure that we are providing great value-added support including tuition on products and Mizuno technologies.


Have you implemented any initiatives to increase sales? We have the ‘Mizuno Tech Tour Van’ touring across the UK this year helping runners choose the best footwear for their individual biomechanics before identifying the best Mizuno shoe to maximise their personal performance. This will help us build the awareness of the brand nationwide whilst providing a fantastic platform in which to showcase Mizuno as a performance sportswear brand that produces market leading technical running products. Additionally, we will continue to develop relationships with local retailers particularly around our UK sponsored running events.


How can retailers improve the selling of your products? We have created a Mizuno retailers website as an online Mizuno source providing all the marketing and technical informational materials that a retailer may need. Keeping up to date with this and using our Tech Reps in-store will keep staff educated on our quality value for money products.
